This Saturday just gone, on the way back home from a consultation with a lovely Italian client, I noticed lots of women with bare legs… yes it was bright, but not warm enough for my European sensibility to accept legs without tights!
It is January and it is officially winter! So please wear tights. I’m not normally this bossy but all that blue flesh gave me the shivers!

Tights will make your legs look better, keep you warm and you can unleash your creativity in terms of colour and pattern!

If you are petite, always choose the tights in the same colour as your skirt/dress/trousers, as this will make you look taller. This rule also applies if you have short legs.
If you have thin legs indulge in textured tights. Balance the denier of your tights with the fabric weight of your skirt or trousers.

Tights are not expensive any more so there are no excuses for giving your legs the winter blues!

Does your make-up need a make-over?

Be honest, do you have your routine down pat or are you really just stuck in a rut. It may be easy to stick to what you have always done, but are you making the most of yourself? If you think about it, most women use makeup, but very few people are ever taught how to do it. And, no, lessons from classmates in the school bathrooms doesn’t count!
If you are afraid to use new colours a makeup consultation can really help.
Once you’ve got the knack, putting on your ‘’face’’ can be a quick and easy morale booster to brighten even these dull winter mornings, and a brilliant way to dazzle in the festive evenings.
Get the know-how and you only need these five products.
1.	Moisturising foundation
2.	Eye shadow
3.	Eye pencil
4.	Lip liner
5.	Mascara
You might need to buy a much smaller bag to carry them in!

Lastly, my top tip to add colour? Purple.
It suits everyone… yes, really. Not convinced? Book a make-up session with me and I’ll show you myself!

In the last few weeks I have seen a couple of clients with the same little problem. They are “petite” and both complain that finding off-the-peg clothes that fit is a giant headache. Although a similar height they are different shapes; the only thing they had in common was getting short shrift from many retailers. Shops do try to accommodate different shapes and proportions but with margins being squeezed, the choices available in stores are shrinking.
So I had a little think and came up with a bijou list of labels.
If you are a “petite” (i.e.1.6M or 5FT 3IN and under) you could start by looking for French and Italian brands such as Agnes B, Tara Jarmon, Gerard Darel, Diesel and Prada. The British labels that cater to the smaller woman include Almost Famous and Sticky Fingers. You could also look at By Malene Birger and Stills, one Danish and the other a Dutch brand, and of course don’t forget Japanese brands such as Issey Miyake and Comme des Garcons.
As you see, it became quite a big list after all, so don’t despair: You may be small, but to these brands you are perfectly formed!
Talking of form, I will tackle body shapes in a future blog – how to identify your own shape and how to find the perfect match in the shops.
